Easy Blackberry Cobbler

A simple sweet and tart blackberry cobbler with crispy caramelized edges and a crunchy sprinkle of demerara sugar on top.

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Cut butter into 4 pieces and add to corners of dish. Place dish into oven while preheating.
  • Meanwhile, combine granulated sugar, flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl and whisk together.
  • Remove the dish from the oven when the butter is completely melted. Pour buttermilk into the dry ingredients and stir to combine.
  • Pour the cobbler batter into the dish and spread it into the corners with a spoon. Sprinkle blackberries onto the top.
  • Bake in the oven for 45 minutes. Remove and sprinkle on the demerara sugar. Return to oven and bake for 15 minutes more.
  • Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.


You can substitute 2 cups of any berries, cherries, or sliced and peeled stone fruits. A mix of any of these fruits works too.
